This master's program may appeal to K-12 and postsecondary educators, HR specialists, educational technology coordinators, and instructional designers. The curriculum emphasizes emerging technologies, instructional design, and performance improvement. The program culminates in an internship and a professional portfolio."
When I applied to grad school for the 2nd time again, I wanted to do something different than just an additional teaching endorsement. I knew (due to medical issues), I would be spending a lot of time teaching online. And that's when I stumbled across FSU and their ISLT program.
I've been telling friends and family that I'm starting with a certificate in Online Teaching (15 ISLT credit hours) and will go from there. But where will I go?
I'm considering creating my own tutoring business. I'm curious about corporate instructional design. I've never been out of the education sector. I also have an interest in working for educational publishing companies.
We've had some good discussions in class about how we found out about the ISLT program. But where do you want go after you finish the program? The opportunities seem so diverse! (BTW...I love David)
Hey Nicole! Great post! I really enjoyed the memes too! haha! Generally, I think that my interest is more on the training side, and I find learning more about HPT of greater interest as compared to ID per se! I appreciate that you are looking at the Online Teaching certification, from the trends, it sure looks like the online teaching will take on a greater role in the education sector! Are you looking at hosting MOOC-sort tutoring lessons?
ReplyDeleteHi Kelvyn,
DeleteI'm not exactly sure how I'd like to start thinking about a tutoring business. But I know I want to charge, so not like MOOC. Looking into Overschool to get started.
I fully respect any time someone can incorporate Schitt's Creek into a completely unrelated topic, so kudos! Thank you so much for sharing your experience and reflections as to where you see this program taking you. My journey has been the opposite of yours and many in our class -- I do not exist in the world of education, and sometimes I feel like the odd man out for approaching ISLT from my Hospitality background. I'm so interested to hear as you develop your tutoring business, and I'm curious about what you'd like to do in educational publishing as well!
